PDO Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meter
The fluorescence-based dissolved oxygen measurement is based on the principle of fluorescence quenching. As shown in the diagram, blue light excites a fluorescent material, causing it to emit red light. Oxygen molecules quench this fluorescence by taking away energy, so the intensity and duration of the red light are inversely proportional to the oxygen concentration. By measuring the phase difference between the emitted red fluorescence and a reference light, and comparing it to an internal calibration value, the oxygen concentration can be accurately calculated.
